Slope your Garden for Proper Drainage
It is not a secret that over-watering can kill your garden in a few minutes. But thankfully, there is a solution, an easy one. Just slope your garden spaces and flower beds. This way you will be creating a natural drainage system that will not allow the water to flow directly into the roots. Once you slope your garden, be sure that your plants and roses will be healthy 24/7.
Say Bye-Bye to the Weeds
It is annoying dealing with weeds while gardening because they are a true pain in the arse. Plus, it is best to avoid the chemical weed killers because they will harm your entire garden, and maybe even kill it all. Fortunately, there is an easy, cheap trick for them: salt! Just sprinkle it all around the weeds, and wait for Mother Nature to do its job. Ah, who knew?
Sweet Tomatoes!
There may come a time in your life where you will plant your own tomatoes, follow what people say, then find yourself eating a tasteless tomato that is nothing but acid. Here is a trick that will save your life: while planting the tomatoes’ seeds, sprinkle baking soda over them. Once the fruit (vegetable) is produced, you will have the juiciest and sweetest tomato in the city, trust me!
Biodegradable Planters
Do you want to create small biodegradable planters for your seedlings? Easy, just make sure to not throw away your toilet paper rolls. Also, you can even plant your seeds directly into your garden in the planters. Don’t worry, with time they will break down. Plus, you will be expanding your carbon footprint, which is great!
Salt Deposit Removal
If you ask any expert gardener, he/she will tell you that salt deposits are a real boon when it comes to removing clay pots. Fortunately, there is a trick that you can make using ingredients you probably already have in your house: Rubbing alcohol, water, and vinegar.
Mix them all together in a spray bottle, apply on pots, then scrub. You will notice how easily the salt deposits will be wiped off.
No More Dusty Fingernails
The worst part about gardening is the mess, the dirt, and the dust. It is my less favorite thing, especially when the dirt gets inside my fingernails and don’t want to come off.
That was a motivation to look for a hack to help me get rid of this dilemma, and I found the perfect solution: Before gardening, dig your nails into a bar of soap, and after you finish, wash your hands. The soap will be the barrier that will protect your nails from any unwelcomed dirt.
Stone Garden Markers
Sometimes, it is hard to remember what you planted and where did you plant, especially if you started fixing your garden from scratch. Therefore, and for the sake of your sanity, you can create your own garden markers. Just grab a sharpie, take some stones, and get creative.
You can label each part of your garden with names or nicknames. Just make sure it is in style, cool, and help you to not mix the tomatoes vines with the basil plants.
Soak Seeds
In order for your roots to grow stronger and take root, you should soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours. The water will work its magic as a catalyst for a quick sprout. In other words, the roots will take a hold faster when you plant the seeds. Isn’t it brilliant?
Don’t be lazy to try all of these hacks; they won’t even take much of your time. Plus, they are incredibly cheap. So, a magical garden with a “healthy” bank account, yes, please!
