Oh, the laundry… that never-ending cycle of sorting out dirty clothes every week and cleaning them. It sucks, and it is time-consuming, but it is necessary.

Some people take their laundry baskets straight to a laundry service, such as Laundromats; other people, however, rely on a washing machine, preferring the classical way of putting clothes in it and using laundry detergent.

We wrote this article mostly for those people. In it, we talk about some laundry tips and tricks that will help you take your laundry game to the next levels. These tips will help you make the best use of your laundry appliances, be it the best washing machine or the most reliable washing machine.

We urge you, therefore, to keep reading to learn about all the ways that you can make your laundry more efficient and more rewarding!

1. Whites as They Should Be

Arguably, some of the hardest clothing items to wash are those that are white in color. They either become grey or come out yellow from the washing machine after a couple of washings.

Most of us become frustrated at that! Therefore, instead of using a washing machine cleaner or the best laundry detergent for your whites, we recommend that you do the following:

• Take the white laundry and soak it in a bucket that has 4 liters of water and 180g of bicarbonate of soda.

• You can soak them in hot water, but make sure that you put 5 tablets of aspirin with the hot water.

2. Darks and Black as They Should Be

What happens with whites happens with black and dark clothes as well. They tend to lose their color after multiple washings, becoming lighter with each time, which is not something that you would want.

Therefore, in order to have a nice laundry experience and not lose the colors of your dark clothes in the laundry room, we recommend that you do the following:

• When the washing machine is about to go into the rinse cycle, make sure that you add some dark coffee in order to preserve the black color.

• You can add one single cup of salt to the rinse cycle, which will ensure that they retain their proper shade of color.

3. Fight Odors

One of the priorities of doing laundry is getting rid of the odors that are generally on the clothes.

Therefore, it would be nice to have a tip or trick to help you do that more effectively. We are here to help you solve this problem! Instead of using laundry soap, or baby laundry detergent, or even the best laundry detergent out there, we recommend you to:

• Take a bucket of water, fill it with almost 4 liters of water, add half a cup of baking soda, and soak the clothes in there for about two hours.

• Or, when you put them in the washing machine, make sure that you add half a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle.

4. Fight Yellow Stains

In addition to fighting odors, doing the laundry has the purpose of removing yellow stains from all of your clothes, which are caused by sweat and are usually found under the armpit section of the clothes.

Moreover, you are bound to find yellow stains after washing the clothes, whether you have a mini washing machine or not. Use the best top load washing machine or do your laundry in laundry mats. However, the problem of yellow stains can be solved through the following trick:

• Take a container that can withstand heat and mix the following ingredients in it: a quarter of a cup of salt, a quarter of a cup of baking soda, and 1 gallon of water (approximately 4 liters).

• Now take the clothes that have the yellow stains, put them in the solution, and boil them for about an hour. The stains will be gone!

5. Losing Socks

One of the main problems that plague people, especially after doing the laundry and getting the clothes out of the washing machine, is the fact that they lose a sock or two. Those socks just seem to disappear into thin air.

And this is a problem that happens with small washing machines or big washing machines. Fortunately, there is a way to help with that.

All you need to do is take a mesh bag and place all the socks in it before putting it in the washing machine. This way, all the socks will remain in one place and you will not have to worry about another lost sock ever again!

6. Make Laundry Hamper Fresh

Laundry hampers or laundry cabinets are essential for the process of doing laundry. If you know how to do laundry, you know how to make use of laundry hampers. Sometimes, however, they can get really stuffed with dirty clothes and give off a bad odor. To prevent that from ever happening, you need to do the following things:

• You can, for example, take a pair of pantyhose, cut off one sock, fill it with baking soda, and then throw it in the hamper to get rid of the smell—make sure, though, that you replace it every month or so.

• You can always keep a box of baking soda handy right next to the hamper, and right before you put the clothes into the washing machine, sprinkle the clothes with baking soda.

7. Starch Substitutes

Many people use starch in order to make their shirt collar stiffer. Some people use it to make sure that their clothes have the right shape and are not shapeless or all wrinkled up after coming out from the Samsung washing machine or the Whirlpool washing machine.

If you do not want to keep buying more of starch, we suggest that you make your own in your own house. Also, it is very easy!

• Just take some cornstarch (exactly two tablespoons) and mix it with about two cups of water inside a bottle of water.

• Shake the contents of the bottle and then pour them inside a spray bottle and use them next time you iron out your clothes.

8. Listerine in the Washing Machine

You might have never heard of this, but it is a thing, and it is useful.

It is especially useful if you want to disinfect your laundry machine, be it a front load washing machine or a top-load washing machine, from any kind of germs that might be lurking in there.

All you have to do is empty the machine, put some Listerine inside it and run a cycle. The Listerine will disinfect the inside of the machine, allowing you to have one that is empty of any germs.

9. Rugs and Curtains

When rugs and curtains get cleaned multiple times they become faded, especially if they are made of cotton.

To combat the effect of cheap washing machines (or even an expensive Whirlpool washing machine), make sure that you grab the best laundry detergent and add some salt to it (one-third of a cup, to be exact) before you use it with your laundry.

This will make sure that the colors of those rugs and curtains pop again, allowing you to see them in their original state again.

10. Drying Rack

If you feel that your dryer is taking a toll on your electricity bill, we recommend that you build your own drying rack and have great, natural air-dry.

Sometimes, it is really expensive to use a washing machine, let alone a Samsung washing machine or an LG washing machine, for example, as well as a dryer, washer or both. It would not hurt, however, to build a drying rack and save some money on your electricity bill!

So there you have it! These have been the top tips and tricks that are going to make your laundry more efficient rewarding at the same time. Make sure that you apply some of these tricks next time you do the laundry.
