#1 – Stop Dusting the Bookshelves

That is just extra work that you can do without very easily. Instead of aligning your books the traditional way, by pushing them all the way to the inside of the bookshelf, you can align them flush with the edge of the bookshelf.

Going at it this way will ensure that you remove any space that will make the collection of dust easy. Household cleaners know this trick and will tell you the same thing.

#2 – Stop Cleaning Furniture Every Week

In fact, even cleaning your household furniture every two or three weeks is excessive! Cleaning furniture this often is recommended only if you have dark furniture, which is a dust magnet.

Otherwise, do it once a month, and you and your furniture will be fine. Also, after you clean the furniture perform a nice polish on it by using olive oil, distilled white vinegar, and lemon essential oil (of some fresh lemon juice).

#3 – Stop Drying the Dishes Manually

Did you know that it is considered more sanitary if you let the dishes you’ve just washed to air dry instead of drying them using a towel?

You probably didn’t, because it seems that a towel is your go-to item to dry your freshly washed dishes. Well, you need to stop! Also: you might want to consider using plastic plates every other day and run your dishwater every other day as well to save water.

#4 – Stop Vacuuming Entire Rooms

There is no point, really, in vacuuming every room in the house. That is too much! You should, instead, prioritize the areas that are used frequently in the house.

The spaces that are used less frequently by you and your family should be vacuumed less often—every one or two weeks will do the trick for you. Also, you need to stop taking your shoes indoors! You will notice that the need to vacuum has decreased.

#5 – Stop Washing Your Clothes after Just one Wearing

Really! Wearing clothes once does not make them dirty—except if you exerted yourself in some physical activity and are very sweaty.

As the times in which you wear your clean clothes don’t involve any activity, you should not wash them immediately after you wear them. Just put it back in the drawer to wear it again for the next time. You should do as little house chores as possible not bombard yourself with them.
