10 House Cleaning Hacks That Will Save You Time!

Last Updated on December 27, 2019

This is basically related to the prep-work of cleaning your house. Take for instance your dishwasher – manufacturers often recommend that you alternate the directions of spoons and forks so they don’t “nest” during the washing cycle and are properly clean when the cycle is done.

If you do this as a habit, you won’t have to rewash your cutlery after removing it from the washing machine.

#7 – Before You Begin, Loosen The Grime

Caked on stains are hard to scrub, and you will just get yourself tired and amount to nothing in the end. For example, with the microwave, if you have pieces of food scattered all over, scrubbing will be a waste of time.

But there are many DIY cleaning hacks, and one of them is simply placing a bowl of water and the center of the turntable, closing the door and have it boiled.

When this is done, keep the door closed for 15 minutes and when you open the door you will see that the pieces of food will no longer be attached to the microwave. If you want to leave a nice smell behind, add a couple of drops of lemon juice and by the time you finish, the whole kitchen will smell fresh.

#8 – Check To See If You Have Everything Before You Start

Preparing things in advance will get you half the job done. If you are preparing to do the dishes and suddenly you realize that you don’t have a sponge, you will have to go out of your way to buy a sponge and you will end up procrastinating.

These small necessities will slow you down, so try to have all of your utilities gathered before you start your cleaning journey.

#9 – Do A Little Bit Of Work every day

There is one word for that: maintenance. If you use your toilet, clean up after, if you take a shower, rinse it afterward, if you use the stove, clean it up with a cloth afterward. The end of the week will come and you won’t feel the need to clean any part of your house deeply.

This also works for leaving things out of place – if you take off your clothes and you don’t want to wash them, fold them and put them in the closet, and if you read a book put it on the shelve.

#10 – Establish An Order

When cleaning, seek to do things in a certain order so you don’t end up cleaning the same thing twice. There are shores that can create more mess as you clean up – for example, if you have dusted and you start sweeping the floor, the particles will come back up and cling to your furniture; and it goes the other way around – if you have washed your floor and you clean the dust afterward, you will end up with dust on the floor.

The best order would be sweeping the floor, dusting the furniture and then washing it at the end. Or dusting the floor followed by making vacuuming, followed by washing.
