#1 – Wounds

Dealing with wounds is basically an everyday thing, especially if you are an athlete or you have a kid who keeps running around and stumbling over things. The best way to treat it is by elevating it above the level of your heart.

For example, if you wounded your arm, then try to lift it up. But if you injured your hips or buttocks, then lay down with a pillow under it to help elevating it.

If it is impossible to elevate it above your heart level, then try to keep it close to your heart as much as possible. This is necessary to calm the swelling of the wound and to help the fluids drain away!

#2 – First-degree burns

First-degree burns (a.k.a. superficial burns) affect only the outer layer of the skin, and yes, it is very painful but not serious, thankfully.

However, this doesn’t mean you should sit around with your burns and expect them to heal quickly and naturally. To treat first-degree burns, you should rinse it with lukewarm water instead of ice water because it could lead to more tissue damage. After the burn is cleaned, apply a cold compress or an ice pack.

You could still be using the old folk remedy, which is applying grease or butter on the burn. It is actually bad because it will slow down the release of the heat and cause more damage to the wound. Instead, mix baking soda with water and add it to the burn to release the heat.

#3 – Heart attacks

Do you know that you can definitely save a person from a heart attack? Early intervention is necessary for those who have high risks of heart attacks. Chewing an aspirin is one of the best ways to limit the damage because it will prohibit the blood platelets that lead to blood clotting, which is blocking your arteries.

When you take the aspirin, remember to take a small dose and to chew it well – Don’t swallow or add water. But most importantly, contact the emergency services as soon as you can.

#4 – Bee stings

Only a few of us don’t know how painful a bee sting could be, and in case you got unlucky, then here is what you have to do:

First of all, remove the stinger as soon as possible because the timing is very important, whether with tweezers or by pulling it out. As soon a bee loses its stinger, a scent will be released that will attract other bees to the area in order to sting you out of defense.

This means you should get out of that area quickly. Then, clean the wound and apply a cold compress on it.

In case you are allergic, you need to keep an EpiPen or an autoinjector with you at all times for situations like these, and of course, contact the emergency services quickly.

#5 – Fractures
