Imagine that you come back home after a long and stressful day at work only to find out that somebody has actually broken into your house or apartment.
We can fully understand that just picturing the situation in your mind can freak you out but unfortunately life can be quite unpredictable sometimes and bad things can actually occur! Therefore, it is important that you be prepared and learn about what can be done in such situations!
You Should Call The Police
This is not a joke! So, when you find out that an intruder broke into your house, you need to call the police immediately. Don’t waste time trying to find out what was stolen and what was not! Call the police, establish a record and get all the information you need to fill an insurance claim.
Take Pictures Of The Place
It is always a good idea to take lots of photos of your home after the burglary. These pictures can be used as additional evidence. Besides, the pictures that were taken by the police might be incomplete or very simply not enough and your insurance company might end up asking you for more!
Don’t Touch Anything
Once you discover the bad news, call the police, take pictures, and wait till the police arrive at your place. Touch nothing at all otherwise, you might destroy an important evidence and you will eventually be the only loser!
Call The Insurance Company
Once the police arrive and do their job, you should immediately call your insurance company and tell them about the incident. This way, they can guide you through documenting damage, helping you create a list of missing items and finally show you how to make claims.
