6. Razor

Your razor also needs daily cleaning. According to research, beards consist of surprisingly higher levels of bacteria (including the harmful varieties) compared to dogs. So every time you shave, a certain amount of bacteria spreads to your razor, and dangerously, the bacteria easily multiply later on thanks to the bathroom’s damp environment. To avoid this potentially infectious issue, make sure to regularly replace the blades and soak your razor in a simple mixture of equal parts of white vinegar and water.

5. Toothbrush

Your toothbrush helps your pearly whites stay plaque- and grime-free, so you shouldn’t overlook the possibility that it can easily turn into a hotbed for bacteria to grow and thrive. Moreover, storage methods, such as covering your toothbrush with a cap or placing it on a bathroom counter, can boost bacterial growth. Fortunately, you can easily protect your teeth and health by regularly soaking your toothbrush in antibacterial mouthwash for a few minutes.

4. Kitchen counters

Don’t be surprised, but there are high chances that your kitchen countertops are much more dirty and gross than you think. A 2011-study from the NSF (the National Sanitation Foundation) found that kitchen counters are among the germiest places around the house, and that’s not all. These surfaces can also host potentially dangerous bacteria. Make sure to regularly clean your kitchen counters using soapy water followed up with a bleach solution to get rid of germs and protect your health.

3. Cutting boards

Nothing says bacteria growth more than leaving cutting boards unwashed after using them. Experts warn that cutting boards, especially those made of wood, can have a shocking amount of bacteria. What’s even worse is that scraping and other methods that are commonly used to eliminate food particles from cutting boards only make germs and bacteria to go even deeper. It’s best to thoroughly hand wash your cutting board as soon as you’re done using it.

2. Bathroom sink and counter

Your bathroom sink tends to witness all types of dirt and germs that come from washing your hands and face daily. This makes cleaning up your bathroom sink and counters a daily necessity. In a study, TravelMath found that bathroom counters found in hotel rooms contained more than one million colony-establishing bacterial units. This sounds scarier when you consider that they’re being professionally cleaned regularly. But don’t freak out just yet, you can keep your bathroom sink and counter clean by giving them a good wipe every day using a diluted bleach solution.

1. Steering wheel

You should always wipe down your steering wheel before hitting the road. Get rid of any germs and bacteria by using an antibacterial cleaner to wipe down the steering wheel. And don’t forget to vacuum the entire car, wipe down the vents, and change the filters regularly. Remember, some daily cleaning and wiping here and there can go a long way in protecting your health and that of your family. Feel free to leave a comment or share this article with people you know.
