If you want to keep your house cleaner and prevent harmful germs and bacteria from finding a way to your body, it’s important to clean the things you use properly as often as necessary. Besides doorknobs and light switches, there are many other items that you should make sure to clean every day. This way, you will prevent the accumulation of any invisible beasts that could sabotage your health and that of your family especially that we need to maintain perfectly clean homes now more than ever before. So stop stressing over how clean are the things and surfaces you encounter outside and instead focus on the cleanliness level of your own home, which you can have perfect control over. You may think that cleaning up your entire house every once in a while is enough to keep you protected. Still, there are certain items and spots around the house that require some proper daily cleaning while, in reality, they’re often overlooked or join the weekly cleaning, which isn’t enough at all. To stay healthy and maintain a clean house, make sure to clean these ten things every day.

10. Your Phone

Surprisingly, even though we’re quite aware of the huge number of times we touch our smartphones, we’re still somehow not convinced that they need serious daily cleaning. In fact, not only do we touch our phones, but we also hold them to our faces. So it’s pretty evident that these clingy devices need to be cleaned up regularly. A study conducted on healthcare workers’ smartphones in 2017 found that almost half of the participants’ phones had six different types of bacterial growth, including antibiotic-resistant staphylococcus aureus and Acinetobacter baumannii. But the good news is you can get rid of most bacteria by simply wiping your phone down using a clean cloth and some rubbing alcohol.

9. Your keyboard

If your job consists of a lot of typing or regular keyboard touching, then it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the thing is booming with bacteria. And the same thing applies to the mouse, headphones, or other computer accessories. A 2018-study revealed that a regular keyboard might be crawling with staphylococcus aureus, which can result in horrible infections. So, it’s best to clean your keyboard every day or every time you finish using it. To do it properly, use a computer duster to get out any grime stuck between the keys, then use an electronics-safe cleaner or rubbing alcohol to wipe the entire keyboard down. Just don’t use an over-dampened cleaning cloth.

8. Bed

If you think that washing your pillowcases and bedsheets every day is too much, rest assured that you aren’t the only one who feels overwhelmed just by the thought of it. However, cleaning up your bed daily is essential for protecting your overall well-being. According to a 2016-study that was conducted by Amerisleep, after one week, one pillowcase can become a home to 3 million bacteria per square inch! And by the end of the month, that number increases to nearly 12 million. So, it may be worth it to wash or change your pillowcases every day or at least twice a week.

7. Rings

Rings that are always on your fingers can become breeding grounds for some extremely disgusting bacteria. Researchers from the University of Oslo conducted a study on health workers’ rings in 2009 and found that wearing rings led to higher numbers of bacteria on the participants’ hands. Those who had their wedding rings on at all times had higher risks to carry Enterobacteriaceae, which includes Salmonella and E.coli on their hands compared to the ones who didn’t wear any jewelry at all. To keep such nasty bacteria at bay, soak your rings, and other pieces of jewelry in hot water and jewelry cleaner or antibacterial dish soap or can help reduce the bacterial load.
