6. Sleep With An Ice Pack

Strange as it may seem, this is an effective and valid strategy to deal with hot summer weather. Just don’t use a regular ice pack. Otherwise, your bed sheets will become all wet. Instead, fill a hot water bottle with water and put it in the freezer. Once the water is frozen, grab the bottle and place it in bed, right next to you. Who would have thought that a hot water bottle could be so useful at the height of summer, right?

7. Install A Whole House Fan

A whole house fan is a system mounted in the attic of a house to pull cool, fresh outside air inside while pushing hot, indoor air out the vents. It is constantly replacing the hot, stale air inside your house with fresh air. It is much more affordable than an air conditioner, and equally effective, especially during summer nights. If you live in a house, you should consider this option.

8. Sleep Naked

Why not? Unless you share a room with a friend, your brother, or someone else other than your partner, there’s nothing wrong about sleeping naked. It will undoubtedly make it easier for your body to thermo regulate and maintain an optimal temperature. Try it. You’ll probably sleep way, way better. In case you don’t feel comfortable sleeping naked at all, make sure you dress lightweight and breathable pajamas. But you probably already know that.

9. Change Your Sleeping Position

Sleeping positions where your arms and legs are constantly touching each other will increase your body temperature noticeably and very quickly. If you have a lot of space in your bed, you should try to sleep in a spread position. This way, you are also allowing the air to circulate your body. Sleeping posture is very important, so try to find a comfortable position where your limbs are away from each other.

10. Open The Windows

It would be best if you kept all your windows closed and the blinds shut during the day to prevent the sun from increasing the temperature inside your house. At night, you can open up the window of your room to cool it down. This is only a good option if the outdoor air at night is a lot cooler than the one inside your house (generally it is, but in some regions, it may not be) if you have to wake up early anyway, and if mosquitoes usually don’t bother you.

11. Cooling Pulse Points

Pulse points are specific areas of the human body, where it is easy to compress an artery to measure the heart rate. If you apply ice to these areas, your body will cool down very quickly. Here are seven pulse points where you should apply the ice:
  • Carotid artery: neck.
  • Brachial artery: inside the elbow.
  • Femoral artery: groin.
  • Radial artery: wrist.
  • Popliteal artery: behind the knee.
  • Posterior tibial artery: near the ankle.
  • Dorsalispedis artery: foot.
