Avoid using newspaper when cleaning windows

Somehow, we have been raised watching our parents and grandparents using newspaper to clean the windows, and that’s what we ended up using too without even questioning it – Or maybe we did question it, but we received answers like ‘because they work the best!’

Well, they are not, and the paper is not the issue, it is the ink!

Once the newspaper is wet, the ink will start coming off, which is something you don’t want on your mirrors, windows, or any other place you are cleaning. Instead, you can use a brown paper because it has all the newspaper’s lint-free benefits, but without the ink.

Avoid using vinegar on stone countertops

Vinegar is known to be an amazing cleaning agent because it is acidic, and we tend to use it on nearly everything, especially items with stubborn stains.

However, you still need to avoid using it when you are cleaning stone countertops because the acid in vinegar can actually wear down the protective coating of the stone, which could leave behind scratches, etching, and many different noticeable marks.

You should instead look for a cleaning product that is meant to be safe for stone, which you will find in the supermarkets or on online stores!

Avoid putting knives in the dishwasher

Have you ever noticed that your kitchen knives become useless after each wash? Most people think it is the constant usage that affects them, but it is actually the way we wash them.

This is why you need to avoid throwing them in the dishwasher and throw your laziness instead because you need to start cleaning them by hand, but be careful not to use vinegar because it can etch in the steel.

Simply, use warm water, a little dish soap, and your knives would be as clean and sharp as you need them to be!

Avoid putting non-stick pans in the dishwasher

In order to extend the lifespan of your non-stick pans, you need to wash them by hand and completely stop letting them run in that dishwasher.

The latter uses hot water that could wear down the non-stick coating with time. You should be using warm water instead and dish soap when washing by hand to allow your pan to live longer and try not to scrub too hard because that could hurt it as well.

Also, avoid using bleach completely when cleaning rust. Instead, you need to get a cleaner that’s formulated to be used on rust, like Lime-A-Way or CLR.
