Here Are The Things You Do That Are Ruining Your Clothes

We have been doing our laundry for years and years, right? In the process, have you learned the difference between simply cleaning your clothes and actually caring for them?

A little lack of this care will lead to the shrinkage of your favorite shirt and maybe even saying goodbye to your white dress because it is now ugly blue!

But it is not only the laundry that damages our clothes, but it is also our habits that we have adopted from our parents and other people.

Obviously, we are not trying to say you are failing at taking care of your clothes; we are saying that we have all learned many things the wrong way, and as I got illuminated by the right ways to do things.

I needed to share it for anyone who doesn’t know. After all, we just want our favorite outfits and expensive pants to stay with us for longer periods and in their best conditions.

Let’s kick out all the bad laundry habits and give the care our clothes deserve, they help make us look great anyway!

Do you know what the relationship is between gravity and your heavy clothes? Let me rephrase that: Did you know there is a relationship between them in the first place?

Apparently, your heavy clothes have a strong enemy and it is the gravity. When you hang your heavy sweater, for example, the gravity will basically pull it and stretch it out of shape. To protect them, make sure you fold them and allow them to be stored in a drawer or on a shelf.

Pro tip: in case you don’t have enough drawer space or shelves to spare, then you can place your bulky clothes in a storage bag you can create yourself.

Not sorting clothes by soil level

Of course, you sort your clothes depending on their color and whether they are light or dark, but now it is time to start sorting them by their soil level, too.

Soil level is the level of griminess and filthiness of a particular clothing item. And to not ruin your already clean clothes, you need to get your heavily soiled outfits separately from your everyday clothes, like your gardening, work, and exercise clothes.

This trick will help the grime and grease from spreading into your less-cleaner clothes. You can start by washing the soiled clothes first, once they are done, you can add the cleaner outfits.

You use hot water, always!

In order to avoid the shrinkage in our clothes, we tend to decrease the heat from our dryer, not aware that the hot water in the washing machine can also cause the same shrinkage to your clothing outfits, especially in wool and cotton. These clothes should be always washed with cool water to stay in their best conditions.

By the way, whether you wash them in hot or cold, you need to always close the zippers because the metal teeth can easily catch the delicate items and ruin them. Always double check your outfits before placing them in the machine.
