A fall from the height of 33,000 ft will take up to 6 minutes to hit the ground at an estimated speed of 120 miles per hour.

Sad but true, survival chances from such a fall are critically low. However, it’s still worth trying to save your life.

 Sitting in the tail part of the airplanes will increase your chances to survive.

 Keep in mind that if something happens (an explosion or the plane starts falling apart), you’ll hear a deafening noise and feel extremely cold as it starts to fall. At these heights, there’ll also be a lack of oxygen, so you might faint. But as you descend, you may regain consciousness.

 Try to climb on some wreckage or curl up protectively in your seat. This will decrease your risk of dying.

Actually, that’s what Larisa Savitskaya did! Victim of a plane crash, the woman managed to stay alive after falling from a 3-mile height!

 Do the falling skydiver position (spreading both your arms and legs) to slow down your fall.

 Direct your flight: To move to the right, bend your body to the right while lowering your right shoulder. To move backward, bend your legs like if your heels are reaching for your head.

 Avoid landing on water even if you’re familiar with diving because the impact from hitting the water will be similar to hitting the ground. Instead, try to direct your body toward bushes or trees.
