This Is How You Can Remove Rust At Home

If the rust you are dealing with is located in an area that it is hard to reach, then your best bet is baking soda paste.

Simply, mix a handful of baking soda and water till you create a paste, and then spread it all at the top of the affected area. Grab an old toothbrush and start scrubbing and then wait for an hour or so, scrub again, and with water, rinse the paste off, then allow it to dry (in any way you want!).

We seriously don’t have to worry about the rust anymore, no matter where it gets, we would still be able to reach it and get rid of it.

Dish soap and Potato

We can imagine the confusion look you’ve made when you read that, and yes, we share with you the same feeling, but who cares if it works, right?

You can start by cutting the potato in half and then place the potato’s cut end in a shallow dish of your dish soap. Allow it to soak for a few minutes only and then grab the soapy potato and rub the affected area.

Basically (and if you wonder how this works), the potato contains oxalic acid that can help break up the rust. Once the latter is gone, you can rinse and dry as usual.

Sandpaper

If the rust you are dealing with has a very thick layer that seems impossible to be removed, but we have got it!

Just bring out coarse grit sandpaper and start scrubbing the affected area until you start seeing some results, and during the process, you should change to finer grit sandpaper in order to avoid ruining the metal beneath the thick and disgusting layer.

Once you have managed to make the thick layer thinner, you can try one of the methods we have mentioned earlier, and there you go! It is time to live a rust-free life!
