Why You Should Never Vacuum Up These 7 Things!

Last Updated on November 21, 2019

Makeup is third on our list of what not to vacuum. Firstly, because it can cover your carpet with even more makeup; then, because some of your makeup can actually melt inside your vacuum cleaner. The trick is to get the most part of the makeup first and then find a good carpet cleaner to help with the final touches.

#4 – Longhair

Welcome to all-new infamous common vacuuming mistakes. Once again, they seem like the perfect match: they are challenging to swipe, they are all around the house, they should go to the vacuum cleaner, right? It’s no again.

Vacuum hairpieces, especially a lot at the same time, can clog your vacuum cleaner. Although there is already a solution in the market for a vacuum that won’t clog with hair, our standard vacuum cleaners are not equipped to deal with this.

Too much hair in your vacuum cleaner will ruin their suction ability and prevent it from working well. For cases when you have to vacuum a lot of hair at once, use a small brush to help you out pick all the hair on the floor.

#5 – Ashes & construction dust

Number five on our list on how to ruin a vacuum cleaner is ashes & construction dust. Whether you’re enjoying the benefits of having a fireplace or remodeling your apartment, the fact is that the standard vacuum cleaners are not equipped to deal with these kinds of particles.

They can clog your machine and blow away all the things you had just vacuumed. The solution is, of course, to sweep them.

However, there are already some vacuums available that can do this job. Wondering how to pick a vacuum? Think about the use you will give to it. The best vacuum cleaner in the market will be with you through ashes and dust.

#6 – Spare coins

We know how dodgy coins can be when we are cleaning the house. We can find them hiding in the strangest places, just avoiding at all costs getting found. They do it so well that we sometimes vacuum them by mistake.

We should, however, avoid that. They can damage not only the motor but also the insides of your vacuum cleaner.

Vacuuming up coins is the first step to activate your vacuum cleaner insurance or, if you’re unlucky enough, to have to buy a new one.

We recommend you always check before vacuuming any place — we are just looking for dust, dirt, and small pieces of hair. Maybe start a jar with lost coins — it’s better than having them in your vacuum cleaner.

#7 – Cords

Just like the item six on this list, cords can also be sneaky. While vacuuming, it’s normal that we run over them. We can get lucky enough for nothing to happen, or we can be unlucky enough to have to remove it from the inside of our cleaner — it can be messy.

One of the vacuum tricks to avoid ending up with a tangled cord on our vacuum is to go on a reconnaissance mission of the areas we will vacuum.
