Small homes can actually be the sweetest if you just got the right tricks. Tiny spaces don’t necessarily have to feel cramped and cluttered. So, to make your small apartment feel larger, according to experts, you need to find out the function of each room.
Although rooms in small apartments tend to be multi-functional, you should only keep the things that are practical and can be used every day. The most important rule is to stay away from anything extraneous.
Move Your Furniture away from Walls
It may seem strange at first, but it’s totally worth trying. Simply moving furniture a little away from the room’s walls and corners can make space look bigger. So keep your furniture a few inches away from the wall or corner of the room. Also, make sure corners are always clear and open.
Paint Your Walls in Light Colors
The right paint job is the best friend of a little home that aspires to seem more spacious. So if you want your apartment to look larger, you need to paint the walls in light, neutral hues, such as shades of tan, yellow, and whites.
Place Mirrors across from Windows
If you want to make any space look larger in a second, all you need to do is add mirrors. Be careful to not place them randomly. Mirrors should better be placed across from windows or door frames. This way you can take a look at other rooms or the outdoors, making your home look more open and spacious.
Hang Your TV
Mounting your TV on the wall is a perfect way to free up a few extra feet of floor space within minutes. Don’t hesitate to finally get rid of that bulky TV stand so you can make the room look more spacious. And if you want to make your home seem more adult, you may consider adding a cool painting on the wall, but no more than one.
Choose Striped Accent Pieces
There are various patterns that can make any room appear extra small. Yet, there is one unique exception to the rule of patterns, which is stripes! Unlike the vast majority of patterns, stripes can make rooms seem more spacious. So make sure to choose a striped rug or striped curtains, for example, to decorate a small space.
