5. Sofa Cushions And Mattress

For some reason, most people ignore the sofa cushions and mattresses during their house cleaning routine. We are not saying that you need to deep clean them every week. But at least use the vacuum cleaner to eliminate dust and things like dust mites. It is also important to use a removable mattress cover since it gives you an extra layer of protection, and you can easily wash it and put it back on.

6. Toothbrush Holder

Surprising as it may seem, this is the dirtiest item of your bathroom. Do you want to know why? Well, you’ll probably store your toothbrush elsewhere after reading the following paragraphs. When you put your toothbrush in this little holder, bacteria from your mouth and toothpaste gunk accumulate in the bottom. This moisty environment is the perfect place for these bacterias to flourish. Moreover, if the toothbrush holder is close to the toilet, it will pick up the bacteria that are spread into the air when you flush your toilet. That’s right! To make matters worse, many people seem to forget to clean this item for extended periods. If you have a toothbrush holder, put it as far away from the toilet as possible and clean it at least twice a week.

7. Pet Food Bowls

Ideally, pet food bowls should be thoroughly cleaned every night (every two days is also fine). If you have a pet, you should get used to washing this item once you finish washing the dishes from dinner. Otherwise, your beloved pet will be picking up more than 2.000 bacteria per square inch every time he licks the surface of the bowl, trying to grab the last pieces of his food. This amount of bacteria may lead to a series of infectious diseases that may jeopardize your pet’s health. Also, remember to wash your pet’s toys now and then!

8. Laundry

When wet laundry is in the washing machine for some time, it will create the perfect environment for germs to grow and flourish. And it can happen pretty quickly – after thirty minutes, you might as well wash all the fabrics one more time. Make sure you take the clothes out of the washing machine immediately after the washing cycle ends.
