Procrastinating is cleaning’s biggest enemy! You will hesitate to do one chore or two, and suddenly you will find yourself drowning in a pile of dirt that needs to be taken care of immediately. So, for example, if you received a box, unpack the goodies, and then discard the packaging right away.
Same with spills and messes because the longer you wait, the harder they become to clean. Plus, you will always feel horrible with all that heavy responsibility on your shoulder.
Put away your clothes
After a long day at work, it is hard to not be tempted to drop all your clothes on the floor and get into your sweats. It will totally make you feel good, but not for long, because once you are relaxed, you’ll find yourself obliged to clean the mess you made, ruining all the “Zen” you created for yourself.
Tidy people always take the time to fold and hang their clothes, or even place them in the hamper. If you followed this tip, both your floor and clothes will look better, even your heart will feel happier.
Clean as you go
In order to keep your house clean, you must keep doing chores as you go. For example, while you are cooking dinner in the kitchen, clean everything immediately as soon as you finish using them, and by the time you finish cooking, your kitchen will be spotless.
You will be enjoying your dinner a lot better than any other times when you left the sink and the dishwasher filled with dirty plates. Plus, you will get to have extra time finishing your shows after dinner without feeling any guilt.
Don’t sleep with a dirty kitchen
The need to climb into your comfortable bed after a big meal is really strong, but it will make you so pissed the day after. So before going to your bedroom, take care of any dish that you left in the sink and wipe down the counters.
If you don’t do this, the kitchen will get harder to clean and the smell will be stronger by the morning. So do you prefer waking up to a clean kitchen where you can prepare your breakfast happily, or to a mess and smell not even cockroaches will be able to handle?
Plan Ahead
Planning ahead is the main secret of having more time and better ideas about your house and yourself when it comes to cleaning.
For example, while still at work, you can start planning the first thing you’ll do when you get home, like rest for 20 minutes, eat, and then clean the bathroom and carpets. While the bedroom and kitchen will be left until tomorrow or the day after, etc.
Putting a plan will make you able to stick to what you need to do, not procrastinate, and feel satisfied and proud of yourself. Plus, your guests will be welcome at any time because now you have a house that is cleaned 24/7. Seriously, 20 or 30 minutes of easy work every day is better than hours of dealing with the mess of weeks!
