Did you know that shampoos only became common in the 20th century? In the old days, people only used normal soap to wash their bodies, faces, and hair. Nowadays, using soap brings no real benefits to our hair, but ordinary supermarket shampoo also has some disadvantages… So what is the best way to have healthy hair? What products should you use? How many times per week? If achieving sleek, smooth, shiny hair is on your wish list, then keep reading to find out some of the best natural alternatives to shampoo that you can safely use on all hair types!

1. Egg Yolk

If you’ve been feeling your hair a little dry or dirty and you have some spare eggs in your kitchen, consider using them for your hair! You might think it sounds weird, but eggs have many vitamins and proteins capable of transforming your hair. All you need to do is grab one egg and beat it until you have a smooth mixture. Later, in the shower, apply this mixture to your wet or damped hair. And the best part? You only need to leave it for 3 minutes to see results!

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

Vinegar is very acidic, so it will work wonders on oily hair or scalps. Its acidity also happens to slow down yeast growth that usually causes hair loss. Apple cider vinegar is also filled with helpful vitamins and minerals that are key for strong, smooth, and shiny hair, while also helping with color maintenance and pH balance. If you’re curious about this treatment, grab a bottle with a small amount of water and place a tablespoon of vinegar in it. Then, shake it and massage your hair with this liquid right after you shower. Rinse your hair and dry it normally.

3. Baking Soda

Again, don’t judge too quickly. Baking soda works amazingly as a hair exfoliant. It removes dirt and dead skin cells while reducing oils as well as itchiness and scaliness. Instructions: Mix one cup filled with water with one tablespoon of baking soda. If you have thick hair or oily hair, use two tablespoons of baking soda for better results. Allow the baking soda to dissolve while shaking it in a bottle. Apply this mixture from your roots to your ends after you shower.

4. Aloe Vera

If you suffer from dandruff and allergies or sensitive skin, then aloe vera may be a less scary choice for your hair. Besides its antibacterial properties, aloe vera has an anti-inflammatory effect on our skin. It can be used on our scalps to combat dandruff and oiliness while promoting hair growth and hydration. Go get yourself a bottle of aloe vera and use it almost like a shampoo, rub it into your hair and scalp gently and brush it with a comb to avoid tangles. Allow the mask to sit on the hair for at least half an hour. After that, rinse normally with lukewarm water.

5. Lemon Juice

Lemon contains citric acid, which is rich in anti-microbial properties. These properties are great for dandruff removal and cleaning your hair. Many people also use lemon to lighten their hair, but we don’t advise you to use it more than once a month. Otherwise, it could lead to split ends and dry hair. Grab some lemons and squeeze them until you get 1 or 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Mix this with some water (1 or 2 cups) and shake it until you have a cohesive mixture. Please leave it in your hair for about 3 minutes and then wash it off!
